Twitter has been described as the "social media" for people with ADHD. I can't believe in 2013 the number of people who have NEVER heard of twitter (Facebook has over 1 billion users while twitter is still looking to top 500 million users) but the way I describe it to friends is: Facebook is what you use to stay in touch with your friends, Twitter is what you use to keep up with what everyone else is doing. Yes, its like one giant cool kids table just hanging out there in cyber space.
I know everyone that I'm friends with on Facebook. I know about ten people I follow in real life on Twitter. That's pretty much the big difference. I follow my favorite comedians (@louisck), athletes (@CoreyLiguet), celebs (@TheRock), politicians (@CoryBooker), and a TON of San Diego Chargers Fans!
About a year ago, Vine came out. Like everyone else, I thought, "who is really going to sit there and watch a SIX second video clip of someone doing something?" Then I remembered what country I live in. A culture addicted to cell phones can now shoot and post six-second clips on Twitter or Facebook in the amount of time you have wait to skip through a YouTube commercial.
The cool thing about Vine is, like twitter and Facebook, you don't have to upload anything to start an account. The trick though has been sorting through the thousands of videos to find the most interesting people to follow… Here's a few that I like:
Vine's format has opened up some novel animated trickery from a few folks. Pinot is one of its first and best-known animators.
This comedian can deliver a punch line in just a few seconds, but you may spend hours longer wondering why tens of thousands of people think each of his posts are so funny.
This quirky, bald comic may not be the most popular person on Vine yet, but he has been my single best guide, and he clued me into the talented Viners featured here.
There's a couple of my favorites to get you started! How about you? Who are you following?
