It's that time of year when the kids are getting out of school and everyone starts asking you what your family will be doing for summer vacation. The honest answer is, "Nothing," which covers about 90% of the three months the kids will be home. Sure, there will be trips to Lake George, Great Escape, getting Ice Cream at Guptill's, a hamburger at Jack's, most likely a day or two at the Track, and maybe a couple of movies at the Mall.
As far as camping, the closest I come to it with my kids is letting them build a fort or set up a tent in the backyard while I grill up some hot dogs and have a beverage or two on the back porch while watching the sun disappear behind the tree line. Then I go inside before being eaten alive by mosquitos!
There is that inner Clark Griswald in me thought that wants to pack up the Family Truckster, point my steering wheel to the Northway, and head out on a "Great Family Vacation Adventure." That dream getaway to Key West is looking even better!
