Rotterdam hopes water woes are behind them

UPDATE: The Town of Rotterdam is no longer under a 'state of emergency' and has lifted all water restrictions.  Here's a statement from the town's website:

The Town is pleased to announce the State of Emergency has been lifted, effective 6:00 p.m. this evening.  The Town's water is safe to drink and water levels have been restored to normal.  Residents are free to resume regular use of water.

Town highway and water department crews have repaired a broken valve on Bernard Street that failed after the water main was repaired.  Houses in the Bernard and Wallace Street area of Rotterdam will not experience additional water loss, as the repair has been completed.

ORIGINAL POST: Rotterdam's week of water woes are just about over and done with.

Crews have fixed a valve that had been locked closed on Wallace and Bernard Streets.

Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi says that means the town's water tanks will soon be filled--and water use restrictions that have been in place since a series of water main breaks last Monday will be lifted either late Monday or early Tuesday.
